The Pet Care Professionals Code was developed by Pet Sitting NZ and continues to be reviewed in collaboration with trusted dog trainers, vets, and pet professionals within our wider care community.

Who is the Pet Care Commitment Code for?
The Pet Care Commitment Code is required for all members of Pet Sitting NZ, including free pet sitters, individual and business pet sitters, and our Purrfessional members. It is a key part of your membership with PSNZ and ensures all members adhere to the same high standards of pet care.
What Do Kiwi Pet Sitters Need to Do?
To become and remain a member of Pet Sitting NZ, all members—whether free or paid—are required to:
- Sign up for a free or paid pet sitter membership here
- Read, understand, and sign the PSNZ Pet Care Commitment Code
- Complete our membership form
Once you sign up, the PSNZ admin team will send you an Adobe Sign document via email for easy electronic signing, allowing you to conveniently review and sign the code.
What Happens After Signing the Code?
Once you've signed the Pet Care Commitment Code, you’ll be part of the PSNZ community and benefit from our ongoing resources and support. Verified members who complete the vetting process receive a badge on their profile, highlighting their commitment to high standards of pet care, and gain permission to use this badge in their marketing materials to further promote their professionalism
Vetting Process for Paid Members
If you join as a paid member, you will also be required to complete our vetting process, which includes:
- Confirming your NZ-issued ID.
- Providing a copy of your clean criminal record.
- Providing 3+ references or accessible reviews.
- Providing a headshot image for your PSNZ ID.
Verified members who complete the vetting process receive a badge on their profile, highlighting their commitment to high standards of pet care, and gain permission to use this badge in their marketing materials to further promote their professionalism
